Directions: From San Bernardino go north on Interstate 15 through the Cajon Pass into the Mojave Desert towards Barstow and Las Vegas. Exit at the Hesperia/Phelan exit, which is about 6 miles beyond the Pass. Turn right at the off ramp onto Main Street and continue for 7.4 miles, through the town of Hesperia. Turn left onto Rock Springs Road (just beyond a Silverwood Lake sign on the left) Continue 2.5 miles to a T-Intersection, turning left onto Kiowa rd. Continue for ½ a mile and turn onto Roundup Way (there is a Mariana Rancho sign here for reference). Continue to the end of the paved road and continue exactly 1.4 miles on the dirt road. Turn onto Bowen Ranch Road (no sign) and continue for 5.8 miles bearing right at the only intersection to the ranch house. Honk your horn at the chain gate and pay the parking fee. Park in the parking area where you will start your hike down to the hot springs. There is a camping area here where you can camp for a fee, but you must pack everything in, even water, since the Bowen Ranch will not supply any. Hike ½ mile to the end of the road to the trail that is between the large rock pile and the Joshua tree, through the fence where a sign reads “Area Closed to Vehicles”. Follow this road for 50 yards and bear right into the first canyon. Follow the trail for 1.5 miles, down the 800-foot drop to the creek below. The descent is steep towards the bottom. Cross the creek to the hot springs that are easily recognizable on the side of the creek bed. It is completely natural and okay to hike around this area naked. In fact when we went a group of us hiked back out of the canyon buck-naked.
