Nude beaches Alicante, Spain |

Alicante is situated on the Costa Blanca along the eastern Mediterranean coast of Spain. There are many nude beaches along the coast but my favourites are at Urbanova (just a 5 min drive from Alicante airport), Cabo Huertas (north of the city) and at La Marina further down the coast halfway between Alicante and Torrevieja. All three are popular with gay men but especially La Marina which is backed by large sand dunes and pine trees and has become a very popular cruising area – I have heard some say that it is now the largest gay cruising area in Europe but I have now way of verifying this claim! Urbanova is also quite cruisy in the sand dunes especially at night.
 The climate is such that it is possible to sunbathe nude from as early as February (if we are lucky with the weather) right through to the middle of November. There tends to be some pretty strong cool winds at the start and end of the season so it’s a case of finding a protected spot at those times. The beaches are very clean and swimming naked in the clear Meditterranean water is sheer delight.
Alicante city has never courted mass tourism unlike other parts of Spain so these places tend to be known by word of mouth and have not been spoiled by over crowding. There are of course plenty of gay bars in the area too!
A word of warning – mid July to the end of August is very hot indeed (often 32c or higher) so bring plenty of sun tan lotion if you don’t want to get burned!
