Review: La Dolce Vita - Palm Springs PDF Print E-mail

This premier resort for men re-opened on Valentines Day 2005 after an extensive remodeling.  The new owners, Ken & Tim, applied tender loving care and created a new destination for us all - La Dolce Vita.  La Dolce Vita is Italian for "The Sweet Life" and when you step through the gate you'll see why this property is so aptly named.

Like many Palm Springs resorts, the resort has a number of rooms around a pool.  But La Dolce Vita is actually two of these properties combined for twice the luxury and twice the fun.  The main entrance opens into a large courtyard with a kidney bean shaped pool.   Abount ten rooms surround the pool.  Many of the rooms are directly on the pool and have their own cabannas.  This area has a subdued mediterran feels.

The other half of the pool has a large rectancular pool also surrounded by about ten pools.  Although it probably varies with the crowd, this pool seemed to be the most popular day and night.  During the day there would always be guys splashing around in the pool and at night you'd often find friendly conversation poolside.

The resort also features a large gym.   It's outdoors though so when the temperatures peak over 100 degrees you might decide to skip the workout.  There are two spas - one is in a more open area and the other in a tropical, private corner.

The rooms have refrigerators, TV's, and microwaves.  Some have private patios.  They're tastefully decorated and feature Aveda bath products.

Evenings often feature social hours for the guests to relax and mingle.  A complimentary breakfast starts your day out right.  While we were there a lunch time BBQ features burgers and dogs.   And speaking of dogs, they have several pet friendly rooms so you can bring the kids with you.  But please, not little yappy dogs or dogs who bark!  While we were there some guys left their dog in the room who barked continuously.

I've stayed here several times and really enjoy the hosts (Tim & Ken) and the intimate feel of the place. They frequently have specials on the room rates. Chardo San Diego
